Is Digital voice better then Analog that is the question?.
Digital voice is better in a way that error correction is applied in the system. Now days we have the D-star network and connection to distance overseas is no problem anymore.
With internet as a helping hand the distance on VHf/UHF is no issue you can connect to any dirrection.
But what if we don’t have internet and only a point to point. What will work better. Ofcourse i had to find out.
In two different ways me and 2 other hams setup a sked with a point to point connection.
Analog to Analog and DV to DV.
We both used a setup inside the building and a hamradio station on the otherside of the village with a base setup.
- Analoge you need 25 watt with a external antenna to make a normal qso without to much noise.
- With DV you need only 5watt and a porto with the orginal antenna.
With DV the signal is even without any noise.
just another 2cents of my knowledge
